Alternative Abbreviations Demo

A test here for all you CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and HTML (HyperText Markup Language) fans. But will it please the members of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)?

Note: If styles are turned off, then the full text is used. (Useful for print stylesheets perhaps.)

Lists would work well as they may not shift the text down:

  1. BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)
  2. ITV (Independent TeleVision)
  3. LOL (Laughs Out Loud)
  4. RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
  5. WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get)

Known to work in the following browsers on Windowsxp (eXPerience):

Note: IE6 (Internet Explorer 6) doesn't expand the text like the other browsers listed, but still shows the information via a tooltip.
