Making A List Into A Table

Vladdy on a Web Developer Forums thread has come up with a way to style a menu list so it acts like a table. It uses the {display:table;} CSS command I experimented with in my Custom Tags Trick. Only I couldn't see a good reason to use it until now. This way, you get the benefits of a table layout, but if CSS is switched off, the menu displays correctly as a list of links.
